Kirby Smart isn’t interested in hearing the criticism surrounding offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.
When asked about the backlash Bobo has received from portions of Georgia’s fan base, Smart gave an emphatic response.
“Do you think Mike Bobo gives a shit what anybody says? He doesn’t care what they say about him. I’m not worried about it. Go ask some of these other coaches around the country—they’d take Mike Bobo in a heartbeat.”
Smart made it clear he has complete confidence in his longtime offensive coordinator, arguing that opinions outside the program don’t reflect how highly Bobo is viewed within the coaching profession.
The comments also sent a message to Georgia fans who have questioned Bobo’s play-calling over the past two seasons. As far as Smart is concerned, the noise doesn’t matter—and neither does Bobo’s reputation inside the building.
With another national title run expected in Athens, Smart has once again made it clear he’s standing firmly behind his offensive coordinator, regardless of what critics have to say.
