Coby White Is BACK! Giving the Hornets a Major Boost

The Charlotte Hornets are getting a major boost to their backcourt as guard Coby White prepares to make his season debut Monday night against the Detroit Pistons after missing the beginning of the season with a calf injury.

White has been sidelined since suffering a left calf strain during training camp, forcing Charlotte to begin the season without one of its most important offensive players. Now, with White cleared to return, the Hornets will have another experienced scorer and playmaker available as they look to build momentum early in the season.

White’s Return Could Change Charlotte’s Offense

White’s return is significant for a Charlotte team that needs additional scoring and playmaking in its backcourt. The 26-year-old guard can create his own shot, knock down three-pointers and help facilitate the offense.

Last season, White averaged 17.4 points, 4.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game across 50 appearances between the Chicago Bulls and Hornets. He also demonstrated his ability to deliver in important moments, giving Charlotte another offensive option capable of making difficult shots.

The Hornets acquired White from Chicago before he became a key part of their backcourt rotation. He subsequently signed a three-year, $74 million contract to remain in Charlotte, showing the organization’s commitment to keeping him involved in its future plans.

Charlotte Needs White Back

White’s return comes at a useful time for the Hornets, particularly with fellow guard Kon Knueppel unavailable because of a hamstring injury. His ability to handle the basketball and create scoring opportunities should provide additional flexibility for head coach Charles Lee.

However, Charlotte will likely be cautious with White’s workload after his extended absence. Getting him back into game shape and allowing him to regain his rhythm will be important before expecting him to carry a heavy offensive burden.

If White can return to form quickly, he could become a difference-maker for the Hornets as they attempt to compete in the Eastern Conference.

His return does not guarantee immediate success, but it gives Charlotte another talented guard who can make the offense more dangerous. Hornets fans will be eager to see what White can accomplish now that he is finally back on the court.
