Haynes King Turns Heads in Impressive Hall of Fame Game Debut Against Cardinals

Haynes King could not have asked for a much better start to his NFL career. The undrafted rookie quarterback delivered an exciting performance in the Carolina Panthers’ 33-30 Hall of Fame Game victory over the Arizona Cardinals, showing the poise, athleticism, and play-making ability that made him a standout at Georgia Tech.

Entering the game after Kenny Pickett, King took control of the Panthers’ offense and never looked overwhelmed. He completed 21 of 34 passes for 180 yards and two touchdown passes while adding 39 rushing yards. His biggest moment came on the game’s final play, when he escaped pressure and sprinted five yards for the game-winning touchdown as time expired, capping a thrilling comeback victory.

King consistently displayed confidence in the pocket, made smart decisions with the football, and used his mobility to extend drives when plays broke down. His chemistry with Carolina’s young receivers was evident, and his composure under pressure stood out despite making his professional debut on a national stage.

While it was only the first preseason game, King’s performance certainly strengthened his case for a roster spot and perhaps even a larger role in Carolina’s quarterback room. Head coach Dave Canales praised the rookie’s leadership and ability to stay composed throughout the contest, qualities that were on full display in Canton.

If this debut is any indication, Haynes King has the talent and determination to surprise plenty of people this season. The Hall of Fame Game may have marked the beginning of the NFL preseason, but it also may have introduced football fans to one of the league’s most intriguing young quarterbacks.
