Georgia Tech’s historic season suddenly hangs in the balance.

The Yellow Jackets enter Monday’s winner-take-all Game 7 against Oklahoma in the Atlanta Regional facing elimination despite a record-breaking campaign that produced 50 wins and reestablished Tech as one of the nation’s top programs.

For much of the spring, Georgia Tech looked like a national seed contender. The Jackets piled up wins, filled up the stat sheet and gave their fans reason to dream about a deep postseason run.

Now, all of that comes down to nine innings.

That’s the reality of the NCAA Tournament. Months of dominance can be erased by one bad afternoon in June.

Oklahoma has battled through the loser’s bracket to force the decisive matchup, while Georgia Tech must regroup and protect its home field. A win sends the Jackets to a super regional. A loss ends one of the best seasons in program history.

Fifty wins is an incredible achievement. But for Georgia Tech, the goal has always been bigger than that. Monday offers one final chance to keep the dream alive.
