PHOENIX — A packed Friday schedule kicks off the motorsports weekend at Phoenix Raceway with on-track action from IndyCar and NASCAR’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Series as the Cup Series prepares for Sunday’s race.

The day begins with IndyCar practice at 8 a.m. local time, followed by qualifying at noon for Saturday’s Good Ranchers 250 on the one-mile oval.

Later in the evening, NASCAR’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Series hits the track, with practice at 5 p.m. and qualifying at 6:05 p.m. ahead of Saturday night’s race.

According to FOX Sports reporter Bob Pockrass, NASCAR Cup Series teams will also prepare for the weekend with scheduled practice groups and qualifying order set as the garage begins building toward Sunday’s Straight Talk Wireless 500.

The multi-series “Desert Double” weekend brings IndyCar, the O’Reilly Series and the NASCAR Cup Series together at Phoenix, setting the stage for one of the busiest racing weekends of the season in the Arizona desert.

In short: engines fire early, cars stay busy all day, and Phoenix is officially in race mode.
