Cameron Boozer continues to make an immediate impact in the NBA, and the Memphis Grizzlies rookie delivered the biggest performance of his young professional career on Thursday night. Boozer recorded his first career triple double, helping Memphis defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 124-103 and improve to 5-0 to begin the 2026-27 season.
The 19 year old finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists in the victory. The performance made Boozer the second-youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double, accomplishing the feat at 19 years and 103 days old.
Only Josh Giddey, who recorded his first triple-double at 19 years and 84 days, reached the milestone at a younger age.
Boozer Shows Off His All-Around Game
Boozer’s performance demonstrated why the Grizzlies selected him with the third overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The rookie made an impact in multiple areas, scoring efficiently while creating opportunities for his teammates and controlling the glass.
He shot 6-of-10 from the field, including four three-pointers, and finished with a team-high 12 assists. His ability to contribute as both a scorer and playmaker gave Memphis another offensive weapon as the team continued its unbeaten start.
The triple double also came in just Boozer’s fifth NBA game, making the accomplishment even more impressive. He has quickly shown that his game extends beyond putting the ball in the basket.
Grizzlies Continue Their Perfect Start
Memphis received contributions throughout the lineup in the 21-point victory. Isaiah Stewart also scored 18 points, while Cedric Coward added 17 and Zach Edey finished with 13.
The Grizzlies pulled away after halftime, outscoring Portland 66-45 over the final two quarters. Their balanced attack helped secure another convincing road win.
Boozer’s historic performance adds to an impressive beginning for a Memphis team that has emerged as one of the NBA’s early surprises.
A Rookie to Watch
Recording a triple-double this early in his career puts Boozer in rare company. If he continues to produce across the stat sheet, he could quickly become one of the league’s most exciting young players.
Boozer has already made history in his first five NBA games, and his latest performance suggests the Grizzlies may have landed a special talent.
