Trading away the face of your franchise is never easy, but if the Orioles were going to move Adley Rutschman, they made sure they got a premium return. General manager Mike Elias landed one of the biggest prospect packages of the 2026 trade deadline, adding multiple high-end young talents while also bringing back a major league catcher who can contribute immediately.

Full Trade Details

Red Sox receive:

  • C Adley Rutschman
  • C Jake Rogers
  • Cash considerations

Orioles receive:

  • RHP Anthony Eyanson
  • RHP Kyson Witherspoon
  • OF Enddy Azocar
  • C Carlos Narváez
  • Player to be named later

The centerpiece of the deal is Anthony Eyanson, who immediately becomes one of Baltimore’s top pitching prospects. The right-hander has the potential to develop into a frontline starter thanks to his swing-and-miss arsenal, advanced command, and ability to miss bats consistently. Landing a prospect with that kind of ceiling is exactly the type of return teams hope for when moving a player of Rutschman’s caliber.

The Orioles didn’t stop there. Kyson Witherspoon gives Baltimore another power arm with impressive velocity and strikeout potential. While he may need more development than Eyanson, he has the upside to become a quality major league starter and further strengthens an already improving farm system.

Enddy Azocar adds another exciting athlete to the organization. The outfielder brings speed, defensive versatility, and offensive upside, giving Baltimore another young position player who could develop into an everyday contributor.

Finally, the Orioles receive Carlos Narváez, who provides an immediate option behind the plate. The major league-ready catcher gives Baltimore stability at catcher while the organization continues building for the future.

While fans will understandably be disappointed to see Rutschman traded—especially to a division rival—the return is difficult to ignore. Baltimore added two high-upside pitching prospects, an athletic outfield prospect, a major league catcher, and still has another player to be named later. If these young players develop as expected, Mike Elias may have turned one difficult decision into a move that reshapes the Orioles’ future for years to come.
