The Julián Alvarez transfer saga just took a hilarious turn.

After reports surfaced that Barcelona were preparing a massive €100 million move for Atletico Madrid striker Julián Alvarez, Atletico’s social media team decided to respond in the most chaotic way possible.

In a viral post, Atletico jokingly claimed they had sent Barcelona a “transfer offer” consisting of four Bad Bunny concert tickets, an annual newspaper subscription, and a bag of sunflower seeds while waiting for Barça’s response to “prepare the announcement.”

It was pure sarcasm — and a direct shot at the nonstop rumors linking Alvarez with a move to Barcelona.

The timing made the post even funnier. Barcelona supporters have spent the last 24 hours convincing themselves the club could somehow pull off another blockbuster signing despite ongoing financial issues. Atletico clearly wanted everyone to know they are not taking the rumors seriously.

And honestly, why would they?

Alvarez is one of the most valuable forwards in world football right now. He is entering his prime, already owns a World Cup trophy with Argentina, and fits perfectly into Diego Simeone’s system. Atletico paid huge money to bring him in from Manchester City and have zero interest in strengthening a direct rival.

The social media response also perfectly captured the rivalry between the two clubs. Barcelona fans were dreaming about Alvarez becoming the next face of the attack after Robert Lewandowski, while Atletico were essentially replying with: “Yeah, that’s not happening.”

Soccer fans immediately flooded social media reacting to the post, with many calling it one of the funniest club responses of the summer. Some Barcelona fans laughed it off, while others were already debating whether Atletico were bluffing behind the scenes.

Still, in modern soccer, crazy transfers happen all the time. Just because Atletico are publicly mocking the rumors now does not necessarily mean the story is dead forever.

But for today, Atletico Madrid absolutely won the internet.
