Angel Reese has become just as well known for her pregame outfits as she has for her basketball career. Every time she walks into the arena, the cameras are ready to capture the latest look. But while Reese continues to get plenty of attention for her fashion, her performances on the court are giving critics plenty of ammunition.
There is nothing wrong with caring about fashion or building a brand outside of basketball. The problem is when the pregame fashion show starts getting more attention than the actual production during the game.
Her recent Game 6 performance was another example. Reese finished with 15 points but needed 18 shots to get there, shooting just 5-for-18 from the field. Atlanta still managed to get the win, but her shooting struggles were impossible to ignore.
For a player who receives as much attention and hype as Reese does, the expectations are going to be high. Fans aren’t just looking for impressive tunnel arrivals and social media moments. They want to see that same confidence translate into consistent performances when the ball goes up.
Right now, Reese seems to have the pregame entrance figured out. The question is whether she can make her game just as impressive as her outfits.
Because nobody is handing out trophies for the best-dressed player in the arena.
