Angel Reese has talked a big game during the WNBA Finals, but her shooting percentages and turnover numbers tell a completely different story.
Angel Reese might want to reconsider the trash talk because her performances since the infamous “You bum!” moment in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals have been nothing short of embarrassing.
Since that moment, Reese has shot an abysmal 9-for-38 from the field (23.6%), including 2-for-9 from three-point range (22.2%) and 10-for-15 from the free-throw line (66.7%).
But somehow, those aren’t even her worst numbers.
Reese has committed 15 turnovers while making just nine field goals. That’s right. She has turned the basketball over more times than she has put it through the basket.
For someone who carries herself like one of the biggest superstars in the WNBA, those numbers are almost impossible to defend.
Reese has never been known for having a polished offensive game, but this Finals stretch has exposed just how limited she can be when it matters most. Missed layups, questionable shot selection, and careless turnovers have become far too common.
The confidence certainly hasn’t disappeared. Unfortunately, the offensive production has.
At some point, the trash talk has to match the basketball. Right now, Reese is making more headlines with her mouth than with her actual performance.
And if this is what being “on fire” looks like, somebody might want to check the scoreboard.
