What Jackson Chourio and William Contreras have accomplished in 2026 is almost impossible to put into words. These two Milwaukee Brewers stars have experienced a season that most professional baseball players can only dream about, collecting championships, breaking records and dominating on the biggest stages in the sport.
And somehow, they saved their best moments for October.
It all started with the World Baseball Classic. Chourio and Contreras helped Venezuela capture its first WBC championship, giving them an international title before the MLB regular season had even begun. They would eventually add another championship to their resumes just seven months later.
A 103-win regular season
The Brewers followed up their international success with an incredible regular season, finishing with 103 wins — the best record in all of baseball and a franchise record.
Chourio, at just 22 years old, put together another outstanding campaign, hitting .291 with 25 home runs, 75 RBIs, 96 runs scored and 23 stolen bases. Contreras was equally important, batting .270 with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs and 153 hits while serving as the leader behind the plate.
Milwaukee wasn’t just winning games. It was building one of the most dominant teams in baseball.
NLDS vs. San Diego Padres
The postseason started with a four-game battle against the Padres, and both players delivered.
Contreras hit .375 with two home runs, two RBIs and a 1.194 OPS across the series. His power was on full display, including a go-ahead home run in Game 1.
Chourio had a quieter series at the plate overall, hitting .188, but he came through in the biggest moment of Game 2. With Milwaukee down to its final opportunity, he delivered a walk-off two-run single to give the Brewers a 2-0 series lead.
Milwaukee eventually finished the job in Game 4, advancing with a 3-1 series victory.
NLCS vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
Next came the defending champions, and Milwaukee made them look completely helpless.
The Brewers swept Los Angeles in four games, getting revenge for their previous postseason disappointment against the Dodgers.
Contreras continued his incredible postseason, batting .357 with five hits, a home run, three RBIs and a 1.113 OPS. His Game 2 performance was especially impressive, delivering a game-tying home run before adding another go-ahead hit as Milwaukee took control.
Chourio struggled more in this series, hitting .158 with one home run and one RBI, but his overall postseason contributions were still important to Milwaukee’s championship run.
The Brewers completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory in Game 4, punching their ticket to the World Series.
World Series vs. Tampa Bay Rays
This is where Chourio and Contreras put the finishing touches on an unforgettable season.
At just 22 years old, Chourio absolutely exploded against Tampa Bay. He hit .458 in the World Series, collecting 11 hits through the first four games. That tied Babe Ruth for the most hits through the first four games of a World Series.
He also became the youngest player to record a four-hit World Series game since 1946, doing it at 22 years and 229 days old. He finished the series with 11 hits, four runs scored and two RBIs.
Contreras was just as important, and his impact went far beyond the batter’s box.
He hit .381 with four RBIs across the five games, including a run-scoring single in Game 1 and a crucial RBI double in the deciding Game 5. Behind the plate, he threw out four attempted base stealers and consistently controlled Tampa Bay’s running game. He also won 10 of his 13 challenges using MLB’s Automated Ball-Strike system.
When the final out was recorded in Milwaukee’s 4-1 series victory, Contreras was named World Series MVP — becoming the first player in Brewers history to win the award.
