Angel Reese came up huge when the Atlanta Dream needed her most, helping keep their championship hopes alive with a statement victory over the Golden State Valkyries. After falling behind 3-2 in the WNBA Finals, Atlanta faced elimination in Game 6. Reese and the Dream responded with an 80-69 victory on Thursday, forcing a historic Game 7.
The pressure was enormous, but Reese proved once again why she has become one of the most important players in the league.
Angel Reese Dominates When It Matters Most
Reese finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, delivering another impressive all-around performance on the biggest stage.
While her scoring numbers were not the highest on Atlanta’s roster, her impact went far beyond putting the ball in the basket. Reese controlled the glass, created opportunities for teammates and helped Atlanta maintain its advantage throughout the night.
Allisha Gray led the Dream with 23 points, while Rhyne Howard added 21. The combination of Atlanta’s offensive firepower and Reese’s presence inside proved too much for Golden State.
Atlanta Forces Historic Game 7
The Dream came out firing, building a 32-15 lead in the opening quarter. That early advantage gave Atlanta the momentum it needed to control much of the contest.
Golden State attempted to fight back, but the Dream consistently answered whenever the Valkyries threatened to make things interesting.
With the victory, Atlanta tied the series at 3-3, setting up the first Game 7 in WNBA Finals history under the current best-of-seven format.
Reese Has a Chance to Make History
Now, everything comes down to Saturday’s deciding game.
Reese has already made her presence felt throughout this series, but one more dominant performance could help deliver Atlanta its first championship.
