Angel Reese had a chance to deliver when Atlanta needed her most, but another disappointing offensive performance raised serious questions.

The Atlanta Dream needed Angel Reese to step up, and instead, she gave critics another reason to question her game.

Reese has built a reputation as one of the WNBA’s biggest personalities, but being a star comes with expectations. When the spotlight gets brighter, your performance needs to match the attention. In Atlanta’s loss, Reese failed to provide the offensive impact her team desperately needed.

The biggest issue remains her offensive limitations. Reese can battle for rebounds and bring energy, but her inconsistent finishing around the basket and lack of a reliable offensive arsenal continue to hold her back. For someone who receives so much attention, her offensive production simply isn’t good enough.

Atlanta cannot afford to have one of its most recognizable players struggle to convert opportunities, especially in games where every possession matters.

Saturday’s Game 4 made those concerns impossible to ignore. Reese finished with just 8 points and 9 rebounds on an abysmal 2-of-12 shooting as Golden State defeated Atlanta 67-62, tying the WNBA Finals at 2-2. She also battled foul trouble and turnovers.

Making just two shots in a championship game is unacceptable for a player expected to lead her team. Reese shot an embarrassing 16.7% from the field, and Atlanta lost by only five points. A few converted opportunities could have completely changed the outcome.

After scoring 30 points in Game 2 and 21 in Game 3, Reese came crashing back down to earth at the worst possible moment. Golden State adjusted defensively, and she had no answer.

Now the series heads back to Golden State for Game 5 on Monday. Reese has another opportunity to prove herself, but if she delivers another performance like Saturday’s, Atlanta’s championship hopes could be in serious trouble.

The Dream need a superstar, not someone who disappears when the pressure is highest.
