Milwaukee Takes Game 1 in Tight Pitching Battle
The Milwaukee Brewers opened the National League Championship Series with a statement victory Sunday night, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 at American Family Field. Behind a clutch home run from Brice Turang and a strong bullpen performance, Milwaukee secured Game 1 and took an early lead in the best of seven series.
The victory was especially important for the Brewers, who were swept by Los Angeles in last year’s NLCS. Milwaukee now has an opportunity to build momentum and put the defending champions under pressure as the series continues.
Turang Delivers the Equalizer
The Dodgers struck first in the second inning when Andy Pages delivered an RBI single that brought Shohei Ohtani home. Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead, putting pressure on Milwaukee’s offense early.
The Brewers responded in the fourth inning when Turang launched a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. The blast gave Milwaukee a much-needed spark and energized the home crowd.
Turang’s home run was one of the biggest moments of the night, helping the Brewers regain momentum against Dodgers starter Tarik Skubal.
Luis Lara Gives Milwaukee the Lead
Milwaukee took control in the fifth inning. Garrett Mitchell drew a leadoff walk before Cooper Pratt moved him into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Rookie Luis Lara then delivered an RBI single to center field, bringing Mitchell home and giving the Brewers a 2-1 advantage.
The Brewers threatened to add more runs in the inning, loading the bases with two outs. However, Skubal escaped further damage, keeping the Dodgers within one run.
Brewers Bullpen Closes the Door
Starter Jacob Misiorowski battled through a difficult outing, allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts over four and one third innings. DL Hall entered with a runner aboard and immediately produced an inning-ending double play to prevent Los Angeles from building another rally.
Abner Uribe, Aaron Ashby and closer Trevor Megill helped finish the job. Megill secured the save despite a late ninth inning threat, getting Mookie Betts to fly out and ending the Dodgers’ final opportunity.
Brewers Gain Early Series Advantage
The 2-1 victory gives Milwaukee a 1-0 lead in the NLCS. The Brewers showed they can win a close postseason game through timely hitting, disciplined pitching and strong defensive execution.
Milwaukee will look to carry that momentum into Game 2 as it continues its pursuit of a World Series championship.
