College football gets another heavyweight fight Saturday night.
No. 2 Georgia travels to Tuscaloosa to face No. 6 Alabama at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, with both teams entering at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in SEC play.
This matchup has become must-watch television, and there is even more on the line this time around. Alabama beat Georgia 24-21 in Athens during the 2025 regular season before the Bulldogs got their revenge with a dominant 28-7 win in the SEC Championship Game. Now Georgia has to walk into Bryant-Denny Stadium, where it has not won since 2007.
The quarterback battle should be one of the biggest storylines.
Gunner Stockton is coming off arguably his best performance of the season, throwing for 295 yards and three touchdowns in Georgia’s 38-14 win over Vanderbilt. On the other side, Keelon Russell continues to look like the next Alabama superstar. Russell threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns while adding another score on the ground in Alabama’s 56-23 demolition of No. 20 Mississippi State.
Georgia’s biggest advantage may be its defense. The Bulldogs have been incredibly difficult to move the football against, and their ability to pressure Russell without allowing explosive plays could determine how this game looks.
Alabama, however, is playing its best football of the season. The Crimson Tide just dropped 56 points on the road against a ranked Mississippi State team and have Russell playing with tremendous confidence.
Georgia will also want to establish Nate Frazier and its rushing attack early. If the Bulldogs can control the line of scrimmage, stay ahead of the chains and keep Alabama’s offense watching from the sideline, it could take some of the energy out of what should be a ridiculous Bryant-Denny Stadium environment.
This is exactly what SEC football is supposed to look like.
Kirby Smart vs. Kalen DeBoer. Stockton vs. Russell. No. 2 vs. No. 6. Two undefeated teams under the lights in Tuscaloosa.
We are about to learn a lot about both of them.
