Remember when people questioned whether Angel Reese could become a legitimate WNBA superstar?
That conversation looks ridiculous right now.
Reese has been dominant in her first season with the Atlanta Dream, averaging 16.4 points and 12.1 rebounds while rewriting the record books. She became the first player in WNBA history to grab 500 rebounds in a season, set the single-season record with 32 double-doubles, and even recorded a ridiculous 26-rebound game.
Now she has another award to add to the collection: AP Defensive Player of the Year.
Reese also ended the regular season by winning Eastern Conference Player of the Week three consecutive times, becoming the first player in Dream history to accomplish that.
And Atlanta is winning.
The Dream opened the playoffs with a victory over Washington, with Reese recording another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The rebounding was always elite. Now the scoring, defense and overall impact are catching up.
Angel Reese isn’t just one of the biggest personalities in the WNBA anymore. She’s becoming one of its biggest problems on the court too.
