The Philadelphia Eagles found a way to escape Nashville with a victory Sunday, rallying late to defeat the Tennessee Titans 24-20 and improve to 2-0 on the season.
Philadelphia looked to be in trouble late after Tennessee took a 20-17 lead on a 33-yard field goal with just 1:56 remaining. The Eagles needed to go 65 yards in the final moments, and Jalen Hurts delivered when it mattered most.
Hurts led the offense down the field before connecting with DeVonta Smith for a crucial 19-yard completion that moved the Eagles to the Tennessee 3-yard line. One play later, Hurts found Darius Cooper in the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown with just nine seconds remaining.
The comeback capped a wild game for Philadelphia.
The Titans struck first after Amani Hooker intercepted Hurts and returned the ball 92 yards, setting up a Cam Ward touchdown run. The Eagles responded with a Tank Bigsby touchdown before Hurts connected with Smith on a 22-yard score to give Philadelphia its first lead.
Jake Elliott then added a 58-yard field goal in the third quarter, but Tennessee refused to go away. Ward scored his second rushing touchdown of the afternoon to tie the game at 17-17, setting up the dramatic finish.
Hurts finished with 264 passing yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions. Smith was the standout receiver, catching 10 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.
The Eagles also had to deal with injuries during the game. Saquon Barkley briefly left with a stinger before returning in the second half, while tight end Dallas Goedert exited with a knee injury and did not return.
For Tennessee, rookie quarterback Cam Ward showed plenty of fight, throwing for 183 yards while adding two rushing touchdowns. The Titans led late but couldn’t finish the job.
Philadelphia now heads home 2-0 after winning its first two games by a combined six points. The Eagles haven’t always made things easy, but they have found a way to come through when the game is on the line.
