The Florida Gators continued their impressive start to the 2026 season Saturday night, dominating Campbell 52-3 at The Swamp to move to 2-0 under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall.
Florida entered the game looking to take care of business before beginning SEC play, and the Gators did exactly that. After opening the season with a 66-21 win over Florida Atlantic, Florida once again put up more than 50 points while controlling the game from start to finish.
Vernell Brown III Steals The Show
The biggest story of the night was sophomore wide receiver and return specialist Vernell Brown III.
Brown scored three touchdowns in the first half, including back-to-back punt-return touchdowns of 64 and 70 yards. He became the first Florida player in 30 years to return two punts for touchdowns in the same game.
Brown finished with 173 punt-return yards, setting a Florida program record. He also added 43 receiving yards, giving him a spectacular all-around performance as the Gators overwhelmed Campbell.
Florida’s Offense Keeps Rolling
Quarterback Aaron Philo continued his strong start to the season, completing 16 of 21 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown while avoiding a turnover.
Running back Jadan Baugh was equally impressive, rushing for 136 yards and two touchdowns. His 75-yard touchdown run in the third quarter provided another highlight and gave him three straight games with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Florida finished with 514 total yards while holding Campbell to only 210.
Now Comes The Real Test
The Gators are now 2-0 and have scored at least 52 points in each of their first two games.
But the schedule gets much tougher next week.
Florida will travel to Auburn for its first SEC game of the season, giving Sumrall and his team their first major test of the new era.
After two dominant victories, Florida has given its fan base plenty of reasons to be excited. Now the Gators have a chance to prove whether that success can carry over against SEC competition.
