The Atlanta Braves followed up Friday night’s dramatic walk-off victory with an absolute statement on Saturday.
Atlanta crushed the Philadelphia Phillies 12-2 at Truist Park, taking control early and never looking back. The Braves exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning before adding insurance runs later in the game.
Braves’ Offense Comes Alive
The game started with Philadelphia taking an early lead when Bryce Harper launched a home run, but Atlanta answered immediately.
Ronald Acuña Jr. responded with a home run of his own, and the Braves’ offense continued to pile pressure on Philadelphia.
The fourth inning was where the game truly broke open. Atlanta sent eight runs across the plate, taking advantage of hits, walks, a Phillies error and a wild pitch. Drake Baldwin delivered a key double during the rally, while Acuña added another important hit as the Braves turned a close game into a blowout.
Atlanta added another run in the sixth before putting the game away with three more runs in the eighth. Michael Harris II also joined the home-run party with a late blast.
Mahle Delivers On The Mound
While the offense stole the spotlight, Tyler Mahle gave Atlanta exactly what it needed.
Mahle allowed just one run over seven innings, keeping the Phillies’ lineup under control and giving the Braves a chance to build their massive lead.
Philadelphia’s bullpen, already heavily used after Friday’s 11-inning battle, couldn’t slow down Atlanta’s attack.
Braves Keep Rolling
The victory gives Atlanta another huge win over its biggest NL East rival and improves the Braves to 88-61 on the season.
After winning a wild 6-5 game in 11 innings Friday night, Atlanta has now taken the first two games of the weekend series in convincing fashion.
The Braves have now put together back-to-back wins over Philadelphia, and Saturday’s 12-2 demolition was about as emphatic as it gets.
With the NL East race heating up and the postseason approaching, Atlanta is making a very loud statement.
