Atlanta finally made its decision. Tua Tagovailoa would start Week...

Atlanta finally named Tua Tagovailoa its Week 1 starter.

Michael Penix Jr. is still working his way back.

Cooper Rush is the backup.

Everything seemed settled.

Then Tua got hurt in practice.

Of course he did.

At this point, the Falcons’ quarterback room feels less like an NFL depth chart and more like a group project nobody wants to present.

Atlanta has now gone through six different Week 1 starters in six consecutive seasons.

And somehow, the 2026 version managed to produce quarterback drama before the season even started.

Tua signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal after Miami released him.

The Falcons hoped he could stabilize the position while Penix recovered.

Instead, Atlanta immediately reminded everyone why nothing is ever simple in Flowery Branch.

Maybe Tua will be perfectly fine.

Maybe he will start Sunday.

Maybe Penix eventually takes the job.

Maybe Cooper Rush somehow ends up quarterbacking the Falcons in Week 3.

At this point, I’m not ruling anything out. Start Jack Strand please. You have nothing to lose.
