Game 1
Game 1 of the series turned out to be a pitching duel for both teams. The Dodgers take the first game by a score of 2-1. The Yankees scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a passed ball by the catcher. In the Top of the 7th, Dodgers 3B Max Muncy would hit the go ahead two run homer for the Dodgers to give them the win.Dodgers SP Roki Sasaki pitched 5.2 innings giving up 1 run (0 earned), 5 hits, 1 BB, and 5 K’s. The Dodgers bullpen combined to give up 1 hit in 3.1 innings of work. Yankees SP Gerrit Cole pitched 6 innings giving up 4 hits on 2 earned runs, 1 BB, and 8 K’s. The only mistake for Cole was giving up the 2 run homer. The Yankees bullpen managed to give up 1 hit in 3 innings of work. Jack Dreyer picked up the win for the Dodgers to improve to 4-1 on the season. Gerrit Cole got the loss to fall to 3-5 on the season. Tanner Scott picked up his 14th save of the season. The Dodgers improve to 62-36 on the season and the Yankees fall to 54-43 on the season.
Game 2
Game two of the series was supposed to be played on Saturday but was delayed due to weather so both teams will be playing a doubleheader today. The Dodgers defeated the Yankees 8-2 to secure the series. The Dodgers improve to 63-36 on the season while the Yankees fall to 54-44 on the season. Dodgers opened up the scoring in the top of the 3rd on an RBI double by Ohtani to put the Dodgers up 1-0. Freddie Freeman hit an RBI single to give LA the 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 4th, Yankees OF Trent Grisham hit a solo homer to cut the deficit to 2-1. In the top of the 5th, Andy Pages hit an RBI double to extend the Dodgers lead to 3-1. It was 3-1 Dodgers after 7 innings. In the top of the 8th, the Dodgers offense erupted for 5 runs to give the Dodgers a 8-1 lead. Teoscar Hernandez had an RBI double, Tommy Edman had a 2 RBI single, Ohtani had an RBI single, and Freddie Freeman had a sac fly. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a complete game for the Dodgers. He gave up 4 hits on 2 ER with 0 BB and 7 K’s. He improved to 10-6 on the season with a 2.78 ERA. Cam Schlitter got the loss for the Yankees to fall to 9-6 on the season with a 2.20 ERA.
Game 3
The Yankees defeated the Dodgers 2-1 on Sunday Night Baseball to avoid a sweep. The Yankees improved to 55-44 on the season and the Dodgers dropped to 63-37. The Yankees opened up the scoring in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single by Cody Bellinger. It remained 1-0 Yankees after 7 innings. In the top of the 8th, Tommy Edman hit a solo homer for the Dodgers it was his 2nd homer of the year. Jazz Chisholm hit the go ahead solo homer for the Yankees to make the score 2-1. It was the 14th homer of the season for Jazz. Both teams pretty much had bullpen games. Both bullpens managed to pitch quite strong in this game. David Bednar got the win for the Yankees to improve to 4-3 on the season with a 2.59 ERA. Evan Phillips got the loss for the Dodgers dropping to 0-1 on the season with a 6.75 ERA.
