Caitlin Clark received one of the loudest ovations of the day Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway before the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500.

The Indiana Fever superstar and Hoosier icon delivered the traditional command for drivers to report to their cars in front of a packed crowd of more than 350,000 fans. The speedway erupted as Clark appeared on the video boards and addressed the field before the start of the race.

Clark has quickly become one of the most beloved figures in Indiana sports history after transforming women’s basketball at both Iowa and with the Fever. Sunday’s reaction showed just how much the state has embraced her.

At a place filled with legends, Clark sounded right at home.
