A month into the season, things are starting to take shape—but this is my board, and there are already some teams I trust more than others.
1. Atlanta Braves (20-9)
This is simple—they’ve been the best team in baseball. Elite offense, strong pitching, +65 run differential. They’re winning everywhere and look complete.
2. Los Angeles Dodgers (19-9)
You could argue they should be No. 1 with a +67 differential, but I’m giving Atlanta the edge for consistency. Either way, these two are clearly above everyone else.
3. San Diego Padres (18-9)
Not flashy, just winning. They’re steady, balanced, and right in that top tier without the same hype.
4. New York Yankees (18-10)
This feels like a real contender again. The lineup is producing, pitching has held, and they’re one of the most reliable teams so far.
5. Cincinnati Reds (18-10)
One of the biggest surprises. The +1 differential isn’t pretty, but wins are wins—and they keep stacking them.
6. Chicago Cubs (17-11)
Honestly, they might be better than some teams ahead of them. +31 differential shows they’re legit.
7. Tampa Bay Rays (16-11)
Starting to heat up with a win streak. This is the Rays team we expected—dangerous and consistent.
8. Pittsburgh Pirates (16-12)
Underrated start. +24 differential and quietly handling business.
9. Arizona Diamondbacks (15-12)
Solid, but not dominant. Still in the mix, just haven’t taken that next step yet.
10. Athletics (15-13)
This one might raise eyebrows, but they’re winning games. Not pretty (-8 diff), but they’re hanging around.
Just outside:
11. St. Louis Cardinals (14-13) – sliding, need consistency
12. Milwaukee Brewers (14-13) – solid but nothing special yet
13. Detroit Tigers (15-14) – great at home, struggling on road
14. Cleveland Guardians (15-14) – stuck in the middle
This is where I stand right now.
Braves and Dodgers are in a tier of their own—but after that, it’s wide open. Teams like the Cubs and Yankees are rising, while others are just trying to stay afloat.
And knowing baseball, this list is going to look completely different in two weeks.
