Cole Caufield once again proved why he’s earned the nickname “Mr. Saturday Night.” The Montreal sniper scored both the tying and go-ahead goals in the third period as the Montreal Canadiens rallied to a 4–2 win over the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre.
Caufield’s two-goal night pushed him to 32 goals on the season, with his current pace putting him on track for a potential 49-goal campaign. Remarkably, it also marked his 12th Saturday night goal, reinforcing his reputation for shining in marquee matchups.
The performance capped a dominant January for Caufield, who recorded his 12th and 13th goals of the month, a feat last matched by a Canadiens player in 1979. With the win, Montreal moved ahead of Buffalo in the Atlantic Division standings, continuing its push up the playoff race behind Caufield’s red-hot scoring touch.
