The Seattle Seahawks are adding another big name to their secondary, signing former All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs to a one year contract. The move, announced Wednesday, gives Seattle an experienced veteran as the team continues to build one of the NFL’s most talented defenses.
Diggs, originally selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, quickly established himself as one of the league’s premier playmaking cornerbacks. His breakout came in 2021, when he earned first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors after leading the NFL with 11 interceptions. He also recorded 21 passes defended that season.
However, injuries have changed the trajectory of Diggs’ career. He suffered a torn ACL in 2023 and was limited to 11 games the following season. In 2025, he appeared in only eight games for Dallas before finishing the season with the Green Bay Packers. He enters Seattle looking to prove that he can still play at the level that made him one of football’s most feared defensive backs.
For Seattle, the signing is a relatively low risk opportunity to add significant upside. Diggs joins a secondary led by Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon, giving the Seahawks another veteran capable of creating turnovers and making difficult plays on the ball. Seattle also has uncertainty surrounding its planned addition of cornerback Terrion Arnold, making Diggs’ arrival even more valuable.
If Diggs can stay healthy and rediscover his 2021 form, the Seahawks could have landed one of the more intriguing defensive additions of the offseason.
