The Atlanta Braves delivered another dramatic victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night, rallying for a 6-5 walk-off win at Truist Park. Ha-Seong Kim played the role of hero, driving home Lane Thomas with a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Atlanta its third straight victory and clinch the season series against Los Angeles.
The game featured several momentum swings, with neither team able to pull away for long. Atlanta received a strong offensive contribution from Sean Murphy, who hit his first home run of the season, while Matt Olson also went deep earlier in the game. Drake Baldwin and Murphy each finished with three hits as the Braves continued to find ways to generate offense against one of baseball’s best teams.
The Dodgers answered throughout the night and eventually erased Atlanta’s lead in the seventh inning, tying the game at 5-5. Los Angeles had opportunities to take control late, but Atlanta’s bullpen managed to keep the Dodgers off the scoreboard in the final innings. Victor Mederos worked a scoreless ninth to set up the dramatic finish.
Atlanta’s starting pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver gave the Braves five innings, allowing three runs. On the other side, Dodgers starter Roki Sasaki was forced to leave the game early because of a blister after pitching 3⅓ innings. His early exit put additional pressure on the Los Angeles bullpen in a game that eventually went down to the final at-bat.
In the ninth, Thomas doubled with two outs to put the winning run in scoring position. Kim then stepped to the plate and delivered an eight-pitch at-bat, lining a single to left field and sending Thomas home to spark a celebration at Truist Park.
The victory gave Atlanta a 2-0 lead in the three game series and continued an impressive stretch against the Dodgers. After Tuesday’s 4-3 victory, the Braves have now won consecutive close games against Los Angeles, setting up a potential sweep in Thursday’s series finale.
For the Braves, Wednesday’s win was another example of their ability to stay composed in a high-pressure game. With Kim providing the clutch hit, Atlanta once again found a way to finish the Dodgers when it mattered most.
