Aaron Rodgers was asked about his mindset entering another NFL season.
That question somehow turned into Anthony Fauci, ESPN, the media and everything else Rodgers apparently had been waiting to discuss.
During his latest appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers went on an extended rant that quickly went viral. The Steelers quarterback ripped Fauci for invoking the Fifth Amendment during a recent Senate hearing, calling him an “absolute coward.”
But Rodgers wasn’t finished.
He also turned his attention toward ESPN — while appearing on an ESPN show — and revisited how the network and sports media covered him during the COVID-19 controversy that followed him in Green Bay.
That’s what made the appearance vintage Rodgers.
A conversation that could have been about football became something much bigger. Rodgers has never been afraid to challenge the media, revisit old controversies or say exactly what he thinks, regardless of the reaction.
And entering his 22nd NFL season, it doesn’t sound like that’s going to change.
The difference now is that Rodgers appears more willing than ever to say whatever is on his mind. Whether people love him or hate him for it, he’s clearly done worrying about pleasing everyone.
Rodgers still has football to play.
But if this appearance was any indication, he’s going to have plenty to say along the way.
