Another college football season is here, and once again, the SEC looks like one of the deepest conferences in the country.

Georgia enters the preseason at the top of our Fan Army CFB SEC Power Rankings, but the gap isn’t huge. Texas, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Oklahoma all sit inside the top five, while programs like LSU, Alabama and Tennessee have more than enough talent to make a run.

Here is how all 16 SEC teams stack up entering the 2026 season.

1. Georgia

Georgia takes the top spot because of the standard Kirby Smart has built in Athens. The Bulldogs continue to reload with elite talent on both sides of the football, and until somebody proves otherwise, Georgia remains the safest choice to sit atop the SEC entering the year.

2. Texas

Texas isn’t far behind. The Longhorns have quickly established themselves as one of the SEC’s premier programs and have the roster to compete for both a conference championship and a College Football Playoff spot. The expectations in Austin are once again massive.

3. Ole Miss

Ole Miss enters a new era following Lane Kiffin’s departure for LSU, but the Rebels still have enough talent to remain near the top of the conference. The biggest question will be whether they can maintain the level of success the program established over the past several seasons.

4. Texas A&M

Texas A&M feels like one of the most dangerous teams in the SEC entering 2026. Mike Elko has continued building the Aggies into a physical team capable of competing with anyone, and another step forward could put A&M directly into the SEC title conversation.

5. Oklahoma

Oklahoma rounds out the top five after showing it can handle life in the SEC. The Sooners have plenty of upside heading into the season, and if the offense can consistently match the defense, Oklahoma could become a serious threat near the top of the conference.

6. LSU

The Lane Kiffin era begins in Baton Rouge with massive expectations. LSU already has the talent and resources to compete nationally, and now it has one of college football’s best offensive minds leading the program. There may be an adjustment period, but the Tigers could quickly outperform this No. 6 ranking.

7. Alabama

Seeing Alabama at No. 7 still feels strange, but it speaks more to the depth of the SEC than a lack of talent in Tuscaloosa. Alabama still has one of the most talented rosters in the country. The Crimson Tide’s ceiling remains extremely high, but they’ll need to prove they can consistently play at that level.

8. Tennessee

Tennessee lands in the middle of a crowded group of SEC contenders. The Volunteers have established a strong foundation and should once again have an offense capable of putting pressure on opponents. Turning close games against the SEC’s best into wins will determine how high they climb.

9. Missouri

Missouri continues to be a program that can’t be overlooked. The Tigers have shown they can compete with some of the better teams in the conference, and they enter 2026 with another opportunity to establish themselves as a consistent SEC contender.

10. Florida

Florida begins the year at No. 10, but the Gators have the potential to move much higher. There is plenty of talent in Gainesville, and Florida will have opportunities throughout its schedule to prove it belongs in the upper half of the SEC.

11. South Carolina

South Carolina has become a difficult matchup and has enough talent to give ranked teams problems. The Gamecocks aren’t quite in the top tier entering the season, but they are another team that could quickly rise with a strong start.

12. Auburn

Auburn remains one of the SEC’s biggest wild cards. The Tigers have the resources and talent to be better than No. 12, but consistency will be key. With several difficult games ahead, Auburn will have to earn its way up these rankings.

13. Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt is no longer a team opponents can automatically overlook. The Commodores have taken meaningful steps forward and have become much more competitive within the conference. Now the challenge is proving that progress can continue into 2026.

14. Mississippi State

Mississippi State enters the season with plenty to prove. Playing in the SEC gives the Bulldogs very little room for error, especially with so many talented programs ahead of them. Taking another step forward will require more consistency on both sides of the ball.

15. Kentucky

Kentucky sits near the bottom of the preseason rankings after slipping behind several programs in an increasingly difficult SEC. The Wildcats have been capable of surprising teams before, but they’ll need to show significant improvement to climb back toward the middle of the conference.

16. Arkansas

Arkansas opens the year at No. 16, but the Razorbacks could be one of the teams most capable of making this ranking look bad. There is still enough talent in Fayetteville to compete, but after entering a new era, Arkansas has more questions to answer than most of the conference.

The SEC Race Is Wide Open

Georgia may enter the season at No. 1, but there isn’t much separation among the teams chasing the Bulldogs.

Texas has national championship expectations, Ole Miss and Texas A&M are knocking on the door, Oklahoma continues to rise, and LSU becomes one of the conference’s biggest storylines with Lane Kiffin taking over. Even Alabama sitting at No. 7 shows just how crowded the conference could be.
