Chase Briscoe, driver of the No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, finally broke through for his first win of the 2026 season Sunday, holding off teammate Christopher Bell in the No. 20 Toyota during a thrilling late-race battle to win the NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.
After spending much of the evening near the front of the field, Briscoe positioned himself perfectly for the final run to the checkered flag. Bell, driving the No. 20 Toyota, remained glued to his teammate’s rear bumper as the laps wound down, searching for any opening to steal the victory.
Chase Briscoe picked up his 6th cup series win in his career. This win bumped Briscoe up to 8th in the points after he started 11th before Sunday’s race.
Late green flag pit stops put Briscoe in the lead over William Bryon on Lap 249. Christopher Bell delivered one final push with 6 laps to go cutting the lead to 0.1 heading into the final lap, but Briscoe remained unphased and took the checkered flag.
NASCAR heads to EchoPark Speedway next weekend, a track that some claim as the most exciting track on the schedule in the NextGen era.
