The Los Angeles Rams have done it again.
In one of the biggest trades in recent NFL history, the Rams are finalizing a blockbuster deal to acquire two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. According to ESPN, the trade package is expected to include star young pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, and additional draft compensation.
This move instantly changes the NFL landscape.
Garrett is coming off arguably the greatest season ever by a defensive player. The Browns superstar recorded an NFL-record 23 sacks in 2025, won another Defensive Player of the Year award, and has established himself as one of the most dominant defenders of this era.
Now he joins a Rams team that was already viewed as a Super Bowl contender.
And honestly, this feels very familiar.
The Rams built their Super Bowl team by aggressively trading draft picks for proven stars. They did it with Matthew Stafford. They did it with Von Miller. They did it with Jalen Ramsey. Now they’re doing it again with Garrett. General manager Les Snead has never been afraid to make massive moves if he believes it increases championship odds.
The scary part is imagining Garrett in Sean McVay’s championship window.
Los Angeles already has an elite offense led by Stafford, Puka Nacua, and a strong supporting cast. Defensively, Garrett immediately becomes the centerpiece of everything. Offensive coordinators will have to game-plan around him every single week.
For Cleveland, this marks the end of an era.
Garrett was the face of the Browns franchise for nearly a decade. He became the team’s all-time sack leader, earned multiple All-Pro selections, and was one of the few constants during years of organizational instability.
The return is significant, though.
Jared Verse is one of the league’s best young pass rushers and already has Defensive Rookie of the Year honors on his résumé. Adding a future first-round pick gives Cleveland valuable assets as it continues reshaping the roster.
Still, there is no way around it: the Rams got the superstar.
Los Angeles now possesses arguably the most feared defensive player in football and once again looks like a franchise willing to risk everything for a championship.
And considering Super Bowl LXI will be played at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the timing feels impossible to ignore.
The Rams aren’t trying to compete.
They’re trying to win it all.
