The NBA offseason has barely begun, and the Golden State Warriors may already be plotting one of the most ambitious roster moves in league history.
According to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Warriors are exploring ways to add both LeBron James and Anthony Davis this summer. The first sign that something could be brewing came when Draymond Green declined his player option, giving Golden State more financial flexibility as it looks to reshape its roster around Stephen Curry.
If it sounds crazy, that’s because it is.
But in today’s NBA, crazy ideas sometimes become reality.
One Last Run for the Warriors Dynasty
Golden State’s dynasty has already delivered four NBA championships, six Finals appearances, and changed the way basketball is played. Yet the organization knows time is running out.
Stephen Curry remains one of the league’s most dangerous players, but he’ll turn 39 during the 2026-27 season. Draymond Green is nearing the end of his career as well. The Warriors don’t have the luxury of waiting for young prospects to develop.
The front office appears focused on maximizing every remaining championship opportunity while Curry is still performing at an elite level.
And what better way to do that than pairing him with LeBron James and Anthony Davis?
The Potential Super Team
Imagine a lineup featuring:
- Stephen Curry
- LeBron James
- Anthony Davis
- Draymond Green
That’s four future Hall of Famers on the same roster.
Curry would provide the shooting. LeBron would continue orchestrating the offense. Davis would anchor the defense and dominate the paint. Green would remain the emotional leader and defensive quarterback.
Even with all four players in their mid-to-late 30s, the basketball IQ alone would be unmatched.
The Biggest Challenges
Of course, putting together a team like this is easier said than done.
First, LeBron would have to be interested in leaving Los Angeles. While rumors have linked him to Golden State before, actually leaving the Lakers would still be one of the biggest moves of his legendary career.
Second, acquiring Davis would likely require a major trade package. Golden State would probably need to move Jimmy Butler’s contract along with draft assets and additional pieces to make the finances work.
Finally, there is the biggest concern of all: health.
LeBron, Davis, Green, Curry, and Butler have all dealt with injuries in recent years. The talent would be championship caliber, but keeping everyone healthy through an 82-game season and playoff run would be a massive challenge.
A Move That Would Shake the NBA
Whether it ultimately happens or not, the fact that Golden State is even exploring this possibility shows how aggressively the franchise is approaching the final years of the Curry era.
The Warriors aren’t interested in rebuilding.
They’re not interested in being merely competitive.
They want another championship.
Adding LeBron James and Anthony Davis would instantly become the biggest story in basketball and create one of the most star-studded teams the sport has ever seen.
The odds may be long, but if the Warriors somehow pull it off, the entire NBA landscape could change overnight.
