If you’re looking for the team with the clearest path to a national championship in Omaha, look no further than Ole Miss.
The Rebels are the lone SEC representative on their side of the College World Series bracket, a massive advantage in a field loaded with conference heavyweights. While the other side features an SEC gauntlet with four league teams battling each other, Ole Miss avoids that bloodbath entirely.
That doesn’t mean the road will be easy. Omaha never is. But compared to the bracket’s other contenders, the Rebels don’t have to survive a series of SEC-on-SEC wars just to reach the championship series.
Meanwhile, programs like Texas and Georgia could spend the next week beating up on fellow elite teams before a potential finals matchup. By the time the championship series arrives, Ole Miss could be the fresher club with more pitching available and fewer scars from the bracket.
The Rebels have been here before. In 2022, they entered the postseason as a dangerous team that got hot at the right time and rode that momentum all the way to a national title. This year’s club appears capable of making a similar run.
If Ole Miss reaches the finals, a showdown with Texas or Georgia could await. Both are talented enough to win it all. But from a bracket perspective, the Rebels have the cleanest path among the top contenders remaining.
In Omaha, talent matters. So does opportunity.
Right now, Ole Miss has plenty of both.
