Oklahoma Baseball Did the Impossible

Oklahoma completed a stunning comeback Monday night, erasing another Georgia Tech lead and defeating the Yellow Jackets 8-7 in 10 innings to win the Atlanta Regional.

One day after rallying from an 8-2 deficit to force a winner-take-all game, the Sooners dug out of another hole. Georgia Tech scored seven unanswered runs to take a 7-3 lead, but Oklahoma refused to go away. The Sooners chipped away at the deficit before tying the game late and eventually delivering the decisive run in the 10th inning.

The victory capped one of the most impressive regional turnarounds of the NCAA Tournament. Facing elimination, Oklahoma beat Georgia Tech twice on its home field, knocking out the No. 2 national seed and ending a 50-win season for the Yellow Jackets.

The Sooners showed resilience throughout the final two games, overcoming large deficits and capitalizing on late opportunities. Their persistence paid off with a regional championship and a trip to the super regionals.

For Oklahoma, the comeback victories served as a reminder that postseason baseball is often decided by momentum and belief. The Sooners had both when it mattered most.
