Georgia Baseball Can Do The Unthinkable

The path is simple for Georgia baseball.

Difficult, but simple.

Beat Oklahoma on Wednesday. Beat Oklahoma again on Thursday. Do that, and the Bulldogs will pull off one of the most impressive turnarounds of the College World Series and punch their ticket to the national championship series after falling into the loser’s bracket Tuesday night.

That’s the challenge now.

No more talking about regular-season accomplishments. No more talking about national seeds. No more talking about what Georgia accomplished to get to Omaha.

It’s time to put up or shut up.

The Bulldogs remain the more talented team on paper and entered Omaha as one of the favorites to win the national title. But Oklahoma doesn’t care about any of that. The Sooners have been one of the hottest teams in the country and haven’t lost a game since eliminating Georgia Tech during regional play.

They’re playing with confidence. They’re playing loose. And they’re one of the last teams Georgia wanted to see with its season on the line.

The good news for the Bulldogs? Their season isn’t over. Not even close.

Win Wednesday, and suddenly the pressure shifts. Win Thursday, and nobody will remember the stumble into the loser’s bracket. They’ll remember a Georgia team that responded when its back was against the wall.

Championship teams don’t panic when adversity arrives.

We’ll find out over the next 48 hours whether Georgia is truly a championship team.

Buckle up. The road to the national title now runs straight through Oklahoma — twice.
