Auburn’s road to the super regionals started with a stumble but ended with a celebration.
After suffering a shocking opening-game loss to Milwaukee in the Auburn Regional, the Tigers battled all the way back through the loser’s bracket and completed their comeback Monday, securing the regional title and punching their ticket to the super regionals.
Auburn faced elimination for much of the weekend but responded with the urgency expected from a national seed. The Tigers stacked wins, survived pressure-packed situations and gradually regained control of their regional after the early upset threatened to derail their postseason.
Now, Auburn advances to a highly anticipated super regional matchup against Ole Miss. The all-SEC showdown will send one team to Omaha and the College World Series.
The Tigers’ resilience defined the regional. Many teams struggle to recover after dropping their opener, but Auburn never allowed one bad game to dictate its season. Instead, the Tigers responded with their best baseball when the stakes were highest.
What looked like a disastrous start is now a footnote in Auburn’s postseason run. The Tigers are super regional bound, and a trip to Omaha is just two wins away.
