Corey Day Stuns Justin Allgaier at Dover in Epic Fashion

Corey Day delivered one of the most impressive late-race drives of the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season Saturday at Dover Motor Speedway, charging from behind to stun Justin Allgaier in the closing laps of the BetRivers 200.

Driving the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, Day tracked down Allgaier over the final run and completed the decisive pass in thrilling fashion at the Monster Mile, earning his second victory of the 2026 season and further cementing himself as one of the brightest young talents in stock car racing.

The win also carried a bit of poetic symmetry.

On one side sat the powerhouse of Hendrick Motorsports. On the other was JR Motorsports, the perennial O’Reilly Series juggernaut led by Allgaier. In the end, it was the Hendrick-backed phenom getting the better of the veteran in a classic Dover shootout.

Adding to the moment was Kyle Larson standing atop Day’s pit box during the race, watching the final laps unfold like a proud mentor as the dirt racing prodigy he has long praised delivered under pressure on one of NASCAR’s toughest tracks.

For Day, the victory was another massive statement in what is quickly becoming a breakout year. The California native has already built a reputation as one of the most naturally gifted young racers in America across sprint cars and pavement racing alike, and Saturday’s performance at Dover only added to the growing hype surrounding his future.

At a place known for chewing up tires, tempers and championship hopes, Corey Day kept his composure, hunted down one of the best in the business and drove away with a signature victory at the Monster Mile.
