The Atlanta Braves Invented Baseball

I mean, yeah, basically.

ATLANTA — Historians may argue about the origins of baseball, but a growing — and extremely unbiased — body of evidence suggests the Atlanta Braves actually invented the sport sometime between batting practice and another routine dismantling of the Northeast.

Sources (Braves fans) confirm the game was first conceptualized when someone in an Atlanta uniform decided hitting baseballs very hard and very far should be both a science and a lifestyle. The rest of Major League Baseball has been trying to catch up ever since.

Take, for example, the Braves’ longstanding humanitarian work against the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. Year after year, Atlanta generously demonstrates how the sport is meant to be played, often at the direct expense of those two franchises. It’s less of a rivalry and more of a continuing education course.

“We’re just trying to grow the game,” no Braves player actually said, but definitely meant.

Then there’s Walt Weiss, clearly one of the masterminds behind this baseball revolution. While others see a coach, insiders recognize a pioneer — a man boldly existing in a world the Braves themselves created. Coincidence? Probably not.

On the field, Atlanta continues to showcase its “invention” with remarkable consistency. The lineup produces runs in bunches, the pitching staff limits damage, and opposing teams occasionally participate. It’s a system so refined that it almost feels unfair — which, coincidentally, is also how Phillies and Mets fans describe it every season.

Critics will point to minor technicalities — like the fact baseball existed before the Braves moved to Atlanta, or before the franchise itself was established. But those people are missing the bigger picture: dominance equals authorship. That’s just science.

As the season unfolds, the Braves will once again look to remind the baseball world who’s really in charge of this whole operation. The Phillies will try to object. The Mets will try to keep up. And Atlanta will continue doing what it does best — playing a game it very clearly, definitely, absolutely invented.

Debate it if you want. Just don’t ask Braves fans to entertain other theories.
