Tier 1: The New Top Tier (The 5-1 Conference Knot)
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (8-1, 5-1 Conference) The Yellow Jackets had a bye week but emerged as the biggest winner of the weekend. Their only loss is to NC State, but the chaos around them has vaulted them to the top of the overall standings. They have a clear path to the title game if they win out. - Pittsburgh Panthers (7-2, 5-1 Conference) Pitt also enjoyed a well-timed bye week. With a five-game winning streak and a strong 5-1 conference record, they are the quiet favorite heading into their toughest remaining stretch of the season. Next Week: vs. #10 Notre Dame (Saturday, 12:00 PM ET, ABC/ESPN)
- SMU Mustangs (7-3, 5-1 Conference) The Mustangs were the only team in the top tier to play and win, crushing Boston College 45-13. They are now 5-1 in league play and have secured bowl eligibility. Rhett Lashlee’s team is focused solely on winning the ACC. Next Week: BYE
Tier 2: Contenders Needing Help

- Miami Hurricanes (7-2, 3-2 Conference) Miami got their house in order, dominating Syracuse 38-10 to rebound from their loss. Their two conference losses (to Louisville and SMU) hurt badly, but their talent is immense. They need chaos above them and a flawless finish. - Louisville Cardinals (7-2, 4-2 Conference) A devastating 29-26 overtime loss to Cal crushes the Cardinals’ title hopes. - Virginia Cavaliers (8-2, 5-1 Conference) The Cavaliers suffered a shocking 16-9 loss to Wake Forest, knocking them out of the ranks of the unbeaten in conference play. - Duke Blue Devils (5-4, 4-2 Conference) The Blue Devils took a stunning loss to UConn, 37-34.
