The 2025 MLB Trade Deadline, set for July 31st at 6:30 pm ET, has come and gone.
While a few last-minute buzzer-beating deals may still trickle in over the next several hours, rosters are essentially finalized for the regular season stretch run after the MLB Trade Deadline concluded.
With no clear runaway World Series favorite in 2025, many contending teams were aggressive at this year’s deadline, working to turn a Wild Card slot into a championship contender.
Meanwhile, teams out of playoff contention were eager to deal star players on expiring contracts, in hopes to acquire coveted prospects for future seasons.
*All trades for Thursday’s 6:00 pm ET deadline can be found at the bottom of this article as they come in. EasySportz will be actively updating this post for any updates after 6:45 pm ET*
Alright, ready? Here we go. EasySportz brings you up to the minute coverage of the MLB Trade Deadline with personalized analysis for the biggest movers (and losers) after the clock struck midnight.
The Padres and Astros attacked this deadline as buyers, hoping to solidify championship hopes. Meanwhile, teams like the Orioles, Twins and Diamondbacks dealt prospects to reload for another crack at the postseason next year. Meanwhile, the Pirates and A’s are still stocking prospects for future seasons, building on a young core.
The Padres made a plethora of moves. Houston said hold my beer.
Then you had the Los Angeles Dodgers, who made a few minor moves, but lacked the typical splash we expect out of the West Coast powerhouse. The Dodgers roster is good enough to repeat in October as is, but another bat or bullpen arm was expected to suit up in Dodger Blue at Chavez Ravine.
The Cincinnati Reds and Tampa Bay Rays made a few budget-friendly deals to improve their roster for the short-term and the long haul, but nothing moved the needle enough to send shockwaves throughout the league. A few status quo moves from these two budget-shopping franchises were about what you would expect.
Can either make a late push in the Wild Card race? Well, it’s certainly possible… They play plenty of divisional games to get back in the hunt. But… Cincinnati has to deal with the newly acquired firepower of the Padres. Meanwhile, Tampa must fend off the Mariners, who completely re-loaded on Wednesday night with Eugenio Suárez.
The MLB Trade Deadline is officially over.
And of course, there’s the Atlanta Braves, sitting pat once more. Once thought of as a model franchise atop the league ranks, Atlanta has been decimated by injury the past two seasons, while regressing massively behind the plate.
Many insiders expected the Braves to deal veteran DH Marcell Ozuna on his expiring contract, with Atlanta 17 games below .500. However, the Braves kept Ozuna and Iglesias on the roster, sitting pat in a seller’s market. Why that is? Well, that’s a question for Alex Anthopolous, once thought of as a baseball “boy wonder” genius.
Anthopolous’ seat could be getting hot in Atlanta, but then you have to remember the Braves are a publicly traded company now, which prioritizes shareholder value over on-field performance. With The Battery churning the money making machine, Atlanta corporate brass sees no current issue at the moment, despite cries from fans to improve the roster for the future.
Oh and those Braves? The very team who won the NL East six years in a row and made the playoffs in the last seven seasons? Their big offseason acquisition was an office park to price gouge more parking on gamedays.
Real baseball genius stuff down in Atlanta.
EasySportz will have full recap and analysis of the MLB Trade Deadline throughout the weekend, as we break down the winner’s and loser’s from Thursday for every team tier.
