Lane Kiffin doesn’t need much time to see the difference between recruiting at LSU and Ole Miss.

Speaking at SEC Media Days, Kiffin said one statistic validated his decision to leave Oxford for Baton Rouge.

“Somebody said it the other day… he’s been here six months and he’s had more five-star signees and commits than he did in the previous six years combined. That’s kinda proof to me of the decision.”

The comment underscores one of the biggest advantages LSU offers: access to elite talent. While Kiffin consistently built competitive teams at Ole Miss, landing five-star prospects was far more difficult than it has been at one of college football’s traditional recruiting powers.

Kiffin’s remarks also serve as a subtle reminder of why he left. At LSU, he believes he has the resources and recruiting pipeline needed to compete for national championships every year.

With the Tigers already stacking elite recruiting classes, Kiffin is betting that recruiting at a higher level will translate into winning at a higher level.
