Fleetwood Earns His Crown, Cantlay and Henley Tie for Second

ATLANTA — Tommy Fleetwood finally got his PGA Tour breakthrough Sunday, closing with a 2-under 68 to win the TOUR Championship and claim the FedExCup at East Lake Golf Club.

Fleetwood finished at 18-under 262, three shots ahead of Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay, who tied for second at 15 under. The victory came in Fleetwood’s 164th PGA Tour start and earned him $10 million, the largest first-place prize in PGA Tour history.

Henley and Cantlay each earned $4,352,500 after finishing at 15 under.

Corey Conners, Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young tied for fourth at 14 under. Each earned $2,616,666.67.

Justin Thomas, Sam Burns and Keegan Bradley finished tied for seventh at 13 under, taking home $1,121,666.67 apiece.

Chris Gotterup and Ben Griffin rounded out the top 10 at 12 under. Each earned $715,000.

Fleetwood entered Sunday sharing the lead with Cantlay and held off the field with a steady final round. His 68 followed rounds of 64, 63 and 67, giving him a four-round total of 262.

The victory ended one of the more unusual droughts in professional golf. Fleetwood had accumulated 30 top-five finishes on the PGA Tour without a victory before breaking through at East Lake. He also became the first player in the FedExCup era to earn his first PGA Tour win at the TOUR Championship.
