When the moment called for dominance, Arizona delivered a masterpiece.
With the Big 12 regular-season title on the line, No. 2 Arizona didn’t just beat No. 6 Iowa State — they overwhelmed them. In front of a roaring home crowd in Tucson, the Wildcats rolled to a 73–57 victory, clinching the outright Big 12 crown and sending a loud message to the rest of the country in the process.
This wasn’t a back-and-forth battle. It was a wire-to-wire statement.
Arizona shot 46% from the field, controlled the glass, defended at an elite level, and held one of the nation’s toughest teams to just 29% shooting. By the time the second half hit its midpoint, the result felt inevitable. The Wildcats led for 87% of the game. Iowa State barely had a pulse.
Jaden Bradley led the way with 17 points, attacking downhill and calmly knocking down 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. He set the tone early, playing with poise in a high-pressure environment that felt more like March than early March.
Motiejus Krivas added 13 points on efficient 3-of-4 shooting, finishing strong inside and anchoring Arizona’s interior presence. Koa Peat and Brayden Burries combined for 15 more, while Tobe Awaka was a force on the glass with 15 rebounds, helping Arizona win the rebounding battle 40–33.
But the real story was defense.
Iowa State, known for its physicality and discipline, couldn’t generate consistent offense. The Cyclones shot just 19-of-65 from the field and an ice-cold 7-of-30 from three. Tamim Lipsey scored 17 points, but needed 15 shots to get there. Joshua Jefferson added 12, but no one else found rhythm.
Arizona’s length swallowed driving lanes. Closeouts were sharp. Rotations were crisp. Every possession felt suffocating for the Cyclones.
The first half ended with Arizona ahead 37–25, and Iowa State never mounted a serious run after that. Every time the Cyclones threatened to cut the lead to single digits, the Wildcats responded with either a tough bucket inside or a timely defensive stop.
Perhaps the most telling metric? Win probability never seriously tilted Iowa State’s way. By the final minutes, it sat at 100% for Arizona. This wasn’t just a win — it was control.
With the victory, Arizona improved to 28–2 overall and 15–2 in conference play, officially securing the Big 12 regular-season title in their first year navigating one of the toughest leagues in college basketball. That alone is impressive. Doing it by dismantling a top-10 opponent makes it even louder.
The Wildcats have now proven they can win in multiple ways: shoot it from deep, pound it inside, grind out defensive battles, or blow teams out with pace and depth. Monday night showed all of it.
In March, style points don’t technically count — but they matter.
And Arizona just made a massive statement.
The Wildcats didn’t just clinch the Big 12.
They did it emphatically.
