Jahmyr Gibbs should be the clear 1.01 over Bijan Robinson in fantasy football drafts. Both are elite running backs with league-winning upside, but Gibbs has one major advantage that shouldn’t be ignored: his situation is simply better.
Detroit projects to have one of the NFL’s most dangerous offenses, giving Gibbs a massive ceiling for touchdowns, receptions and explosive plays. With Jared Goff providing stability at quarterback and plenty of weapons around him, defenses can’t simply load the box and focus on stopping Gibbs. He should consistently find himself in favorable situations with Detroit moving the football and reaching the red zone.
Bijan remains one of the most talented backs in football, but Atlanta comes with significantly more uncertainty. The Falcons’ quarterback situation is a major question mark, and their offense and team as a whole don’t project to be on Detroit’s level. If Atlanta struggles to sustain drives or falls behind frequently, Bijan could have fewer premium scoring opportunities despite handling a massive workload.
Gibbs gives fantasy managers the same elite talent without nearly as many questions surrounding his offense. He’s explosive as a runner, dangerous as a receiver and attached to a team that should score plenty of points.
At 1.01, there’s no reason to make it complicated. Jahmyr Gibbs should be the first player off the board.
