The Atlanta Falcons may have suffered a devastating blow before the 2026 season has even started.
Second-year edge rusher Jalon Walker was carted off the field during Tuesday’s training camp practice, and the Falcons reportedly fear he suffered a torn ACL. Walker is expected to undergo an MRI to determine the full extent of the injury.
The injury occurred during an 11-on-11, two-minute drill in a non-padded practice. The scene immediately appeared serious, as teammates gathered around Walker and took a knee while he was being treated. Practice was ultimately ended early.
If the ACL tear is confirmed, it would likely end Walker’s 2026 season before it even begins.
That’s a massive loss for an Atlanta defense expecting Walker to take another step forward. The former Georgia star was selected 15th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft and showed plenty of promise as a rookie, recording 5.5 sacks, 36 tackles and two forced fumbles in 15 games.
Walker was supposed to be one of the centerpieces of Atlanta’s young defensive core. Instead, the Falcons are now waiting on an MRI that could completely change the outlook of their pass rush.
Atlanta has spent years searching for young defensive stars.
Now it may have lost one of its most promising ones before Week 1 even arrives.
