Indy NXT Heads to Nashville for Sunday Showdown

Indy NXT Returns to Oval Racing Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway

The future stars of IndyCar return to action Sunday as Indy NXT by Firestone takes on one of its few oval events of the 2026 season at Nashville Superspeedway.

The race serves as the appetizer to the NTT IndyCar Series’ Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix, giving fans an early look at many of the sport’s top young prospects before the main event later in the afternoon.

The Indy NXT Music City Grand Prix is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. Television coverage will air live on FS1, while the race can also be heard on the INDYCAR Radio Network and the SiriusXM INDYCAR Nation channel. Live timing and scoring will be available through the INDYCAR app and IndyCar.com.

Nashville’s 1.33-mile concrete oval presents one of the biggest challenges on the Indy NXT schedule. With only a handful of oval races on the calendar each season, drivers have limited opportunities to hone their skills on high-speed left-turn-only circuits, making Sunday’s race one of the most unpredictable of the year.

The series last competed two weeks ago at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and now shifts dramatically from a technical road course to one of the fastest ovals in North American open-wheel racing. The transition will reward drivers who can quickly adapt to changing grip levels, tire wear and traffic.

Among the drivers to watch Sunday are championship contenders Enzo Fittipaldi and Tymek Kucharczyk, along with rising star Nikita Johnson.

Myles Rowe captured last year’s Indy NXT race at Nashville. Sunday’s event gives the next generation another opportunity to showcase its talent on one of the sport’s biggest stages before the IndyCar stars take the green flag later in the day.

This 65-lap event will cover 86.45 miles and is sure to bring excitement quickly.
