Ranking The Top 10 QB Situations Entering The 2026 College Football Season

1. Texas — Arch Manning

This is the biggest QB situation in the sport and honestly one of the biggest storylines in all of sports.

Texas has a loaded roster, national title expectations, and arguably the most hyped quarterback since Trevor Lawrence. Arch Manning now fully owns the program, and anything short of a playoff run will feel disappointing.

If he lives up to the hype, Texas could dominate college football for the next two years.

2. Notre Dame — CJ Carr

CJ Carr being placed in ESPN’s top quarterback tier before even fully proving himself says everything about how highly people in football view him.

Notre Dame has a championship-caliber roster already. Carr now walks into elite coaching, massive expectations, and a chance to become an instant superstar.

This feels like a breakout season waiting to happen.

3. Ohio State — Julian Sayin

Ohio State replacing Will Howard with Julian Sayin feels unfair.

Sayin has elite arm talent, elite recruiting pedigree, and now gets arguably the best WR room in the country. The setup is perfect for him to explode immediately.

If he plays at the level people expect, Ohio State absolutely can win the national title.

4. Oregon — Dante Moore

This finally feels like the right situation for Dante Moore.

The talent has always been obvious. Oregon’s offense and supporting cast now give him the perfect environment to fully develop into the player people expected him to become coming out of high school.

The ceiling here is national championship-level.

5. LSU — Sam Leavitt

Sam Leavitt transferring to LSU completely changes the Tigers entering this season.

He already looked like one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the country at Arizona State, and now he gets elite SEC talent around him plus one of the best offensive situations in college football.

Honestly, this feels like the move that could make Leavitt a national star.

6. South Carolina — LaNorris Sellers

LaNorris Sellers might have the highest upside in college football outside of Arch Manning.

The physical tools are absurd. Huge arm, elite athleticism, toughness, and confidence. He completely changed South Carolina’s ceiling last season.

If he becomes more polished as a passer, he could legitimately become a Heisman contender.

7. Alabama — Keelon Russell

With Ty Simpson gone, this now becomes the Keelon Russell era.

Russell might honestly be the most naturally talented freshman quarterback in the country. Alabama fans already expect him to become the next superstar, and the pressure is going to be enormous immediately.

The upside is ridiculous.

8. Miami — Darian Mensah

Darian Mensah quietly has massive hype entering this season.

Miami desperately needs elite QB play to finally become nationally relevant again, and there are already people around college football who believe Mensah could explode nationally this year.

Boom-or-bust situation, but the ceiling is extremely high.

9. Georgia — Gunner Stockton

Georgia always belongs in these conversations because of the roster around the quarterback.

Stockton may not have the superstar hype some others on this list have, but Georgia’s talent level still gives him one of the best QB situations in the country.

If he plays well, Georgia immediately becomes a national title threat again.

10. Clemson — Christopher Vizzina

Christopher Vizzina finally getting his opportunity at Clemson makes this one of the most interesting QB situations nationally.

Clemson still has enough talent to compete at a high level, and Vizzina has the arm talent and pedigree to become a major riser quickly.

This feels like one of the biggest wildcard situations entering the season.
