Donald Trump took aim at rising FIFA World Cup ticket prices this week and delivered a reaction that sounded a lot like frustrated sports fans everywhere.
Speaking about the cost of attending matches, Trump joked that even he would think twice before paying some of the prices being floated for premium seats at the upcoming tournament in North America.
“At those prices, I might watch from home,” Trump said with a laugh.
That is saying something considering this is a man known for gold-plated buildings, private jets and front-row sporting event appearances.
Fans online quickly ran with the comments, with many agreeing World Cup prices have started to feel more like luxury vacations than soccer matches. Others joked that if Trump thinks tickets are expensive, regular fans never had a chance in the first place.
Either way, one thing became clear: World Cup sticker shock might officially be bipartisan.
