Perfection is one of the rarest things in college basketball. Through the chaos of conference play, injuries, road trips, and rivalry games, almost every team eventually slips up. But the Miami RedHawks men’s basketball continue to defy that reality.
Tuesday night, Miami (OH) stayed perfect with a 74–72 win over the Toledo Rockets men’s basketball, pushing its remarkable season record to 30–0 and extending one of the most impressive runs in the country.
The victory did not come easily.
Toledo fought the RedHawks for the entire night in a tight Mid-American Conference showdown that came down to the final possessions. The Rockets had opportunities late, but Miami once again found a way to escape with its unbeaten season intact.
Leading the charge was Peter Suder, who delivered a huge performance with 19 points, knocking down four three-pointers and controlling the offense during key stretches of the game. Suder consistently provided answers whenever Toledo threatened to seize momentum.
Antwone Woolfolk also played a major role, finishing with 14 points and six rebounds, giving Miami an interior presence while helping the RedHawks stay balanced offensively.
Miami shot 50% from the field and 38% from three, efficient numbers that helped offset Toledo’s physical rebounding effort. The Rockets actually won the rebounding battle 35–31, but Miami’s shot-making ultimately proved to be the difference.
Toledo had its own standout performance from Leroy Blyde Jr., who poured in 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting and repeatedly attacked Miami’s defense. Sonny Wilson added 13 points and six assists, helping the Rockets keep the game competitive deep into the second half.
Despite the pressure, Miami never lost its composure.
In tight games throughout the season, the RedHawks have consistently shown the ability to make the critical plays when they matter most. Whether it’s a clutch shot, a key defensive stop, or simply avoiding the mistakes that cost teams late in games, Miami has developed the mentality of a team that expects to win.
That mentality showed again in the final minutes against Toledo.
With the game hanging in the balance, Miami executed just enough offense and defensive stops to hold onto the slim two-point lead and preserve the undefeated season.
The win also caps off a perfect 17–0 Mid-American Conference record, securing Miami’s place at the top of the MAC standings and solidifying what has already become a historic regular season.
Going undefeated in conference play is an extremely rare achievement, especially in a league as competitive and unpredictable as the MAC, where road games can quickly turn into trap situations.
Yet Miami has navigated every challenge thrown its way.
Now the focus shifts toward the postseason.
The MAC tournament will present new pressure, as every opponent will be motivated to be the team that finally ends Miami’s perfect run. For the RedHawks, the challenge will be maintaining the same poise and discipline that carried them through the regular season.
If they can do that, this team could accomplish something even more historic.
For now, though, the story remains simple: 30 games played, 30 games won.
And after another narrow escape, Miami (OH) is still doing something almost no team in college basketball can say this season — they haven’t lost.
