NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The season-opening showdown between the Ole Miss Rebels and Louisville Cardinals has been moved to Sunday of Labor Day weekend, setting up a major college football showcase in Music City.
The neutral-site matchup at Nissan Stadium is now scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 6, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on ABC.
The prime-time move places the Rebels and Cardinals in one of the sport’s biggest opening-weekend windows — and likely as a lead-in to another marquee matchup between Notre Dame Fighting Irish football and Wisconsin Badgers football later that night.
The game will help launch the 2026 college football season and brings a high-profile SEC–ACC clash to Nashville, with both programs expected to draw strong national attention.
Labor Day weekend just got even bigger — and Music City will be right at the center of college football’s opening spotlight.
