Running the Seattle Seahawks Offseason in GM Mode

This offseason, I took control of the Seattle Seahawks in GM Mode on StickToTheModel with a clear objective: maintain flexibility, extend key young talent, and reinforce both lines while adding explosive playmakers.

Here’s how it played out.

The Big Picture

  • Starting Cap Space: $73.3M
  • Final Cap Space: $32.3M
  • Contracts Restructured: 8
  • Extensions: 2
  • Free Agents Signed: 7
  • Draft Picks: 6
  • Overall Grade: A

This was a proactive offseason focused on balance, youth retention, and defensive reinforcement.

Restructures

Eight contracts were reworked to create additional cap flexibility:

  • Cooper Kupp (+$5.9M)
  • Sam Darnold (+$5.6M)
  • Abraham Lucas (+$3.6M)
  • Julian Love (+$3.6M)
  • DeMarcus Lawrence (+$3.5M)
  • Ernest Jones (+$3.3M)
  • Jarran Reed (+$2.1M)

The restructures preserved veteran leadership while maintaining room to operate.

Extensions

Two foundational young players were extended:

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba
  • Devon Witherspoon

Locking in core pieces ensured long-term stability on both sides of the ball.

Free Agency Additions

Seven total moves were made in free agency, including key re-signings and outside additions.

Re-Signed

Kenneth Walker III (RB) – 2 years / $11.1M APY
Dynamic runner retained to anchor the backfield.

Rashid Shaheed (WR) – 2 years / $10.0M APY
Vertical speed kept in place to stretch defenses.

Coby Bryant (S) – 2 years / $7.9M APY
Secondary depth and versatility retained.

Tariq Woolen (CB) – 1 year / $1.0M APY
Cornerback depth brought back on a short-term deal.

External Additions

Jaelan Phillips (EDGE) – 2 years / $17.3M APY
Premium pass rush help added to elevate the front.

Kevin Zeitler (IOL) – 1 year / $7.0M APY
Veteran interior offensive line reinforcement.

Draft Class Breakdown

Six picks focused on reinforcing the defense and adding trench depth.

Round 2 – Pick 41
Keith Abney II (CB, Arizona State)

Round 3 – Pick 68
Gabe Jacas (EDGE, Illinois)

Round 3 – Pick 72
Darrell Jackson Jr (DL, Florida State)

Round 4 – Pick 116
Harold Perkins Jr (OLB, LSU)

Round 5 – Pick 153
Jaeden Roberts (OG, Alabama)

Round 6 – Pick 212
Reggie Virgil (WR, Texas Tech)

The draft added youth to the defense while continuing to build depth along the offensive line.

Final Take

This was a forward-thinking offseason. The Seahawks retained cap health, extended foundational players, strengthened the pass rush, and kept key contributors in place.

With flexibility still intact and depth reinforced, this roster exits the offseason balanced and competitive.
